1. If you don't know anything about A/C don't go trying to recharge the system. Adding refrigerant to the HIGH side of the system can get you kill. The high side pressure can vary from 200 psi to 300 psi, enough pressure to blow up a can of refrigerant. Refrigerant is always added to the LOW side.
2. To add refrigerant you need a set of gauges connected to the low side and high side of the system.

What he said. And DIY recharges are a killer to your A/C system... Just because it's not super cool then it could be a few different things. Not just low charge, and adding charge could just cover it up.
