I had a front half shaft fail on me on Sunday just cruising down the freeway.... So far I have

Only on the drivers side.

Torn off the front brakes
Beat the hell out of the pinch bolt that holds the upper control arms in, heated it, PB blaster, beat the hell out of it, heat, etc.

Went to the other side of Columbus (about 45 mins) to the parts car to remove that cars front control arms (had to remove them before, since they are needed to be removed to get at the half shafts). The pinch bolts and control arms in the parts car came out VERY easy, which is why I stole them. Also grabbed the half shafts while I was out there (my other front outer boot was torn as well).

Back at shop:
disassembled CV joint and combined 2 bad shafts to make one good one.
Beat the piss outa the pinch bolt again and it finally moved out.
Tore out front suspension.
torqued control arms
torqued half shaft to trans
antiseized all the bolts that took me forever to remove
reinstalled and torqued everything else

That took me just a day, well kinda. I probably spent maybe 5 hours working on the car, there were a lot of food brakes. watch WRC brakes, and shoot the shit brakes.

Todays agenda: the other side.

Kinda. The other side the pinch bolt was sooooooooooo seized that I BENT the pinch bolt. It was just as aggravating, but now I'm a pro at rebuilding CV joints.

Car's back together, I was in a rush at the end though and forgot the pass side dust shield and still have a brake pad wear indicator light on. also now my automatic windows do not work.

And my CEL randomly went away as well. :dunno:
