he wasn't comparing the Mustang to a Ferrari. he brought up Ferrari because of the name. with Ferrari, you're basically doing the same exact thing when you buy this car. you're paying for the name, the history, the technology, and everything else that Ferrari has to offer.
and really? no offense, but "its still a Mustang"? we're not talking about a Neon SRT/4 here. its not like the Mustang is one of the most hated cars in the world.
The new mustangs are nothing compared to the older ones...And its still a ford. What i meant by Ferrari is yes you are paying for the name, but there is history and class behind it. I am not going to argue wheather mustang is hated or not, but FORD doesn't compare to Ferrari in Any way. And for the money you can get a shelby +this kit, you can probably buy a ferrari. And its not street legal on slicks... so technically you arent't getting a 9 second street legal car. Probably mid to high 10s at best.

That was my failsafe. Yeah. And I can bet you money that the car will NOT pass SMOG, truly.

what's stopping people from putting drag radials on? and also, just because it has 750hp (on pump) and THAT much modifications, doesn't neccesarily mean its not going to pass smog. look at the SSC Ultimate Aero TT and Koenigsegg CCX. both have about as much modifications as this, and both are street worthy.
the thing you hear the most when describing a street legal car is that all you need is a pair of headlights and tail lights with drag radials and/or street tires.

To be street legal doesn't just mean the correct lights. It also includes bumper height, and US emmisions standards amongst many other thing. I see where you're coming from with the car. I guess if you have enough money to get that car then you have enough money to just look at it and buy a real drag car. For the money you're dropping in that car and the power it puts down I would expect it to be in the mid 8's at least. A slightly modded busa could still beat it.

i have a VERY strong feeling that Speed is going to pick this up. i mean what other cable network is as popular with the gearhead crowd as Speed? they wouldn't get as much publicity if they put it on some network other than Speed.

Source: AutoBlogIf you're the type of person who loves every new Ford Mustang variation that hits the market, then this is what you've finally been waiting for. If you're the type who can't stand it, well, deal with it. Today, Roush is the first to dip its toe into into what will doubtlessly be a very crowded pool of tuner Mustangs with the introduction of its 2010 427R Mustang at its Livonia, MI assembly plant.
Like the standard 2010 Mustang, don't expect drastic changes underneath – the meat-and-potatoes of Roush Mustangs over the past few years are all there but now with a fresh new face. Under the hood, the Blue Oval's V8 has been supercharged to produce 435 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, and it now features a more efficient intake system and improved cooling.
The appearance package is relatively subtle (if you can call side stripes "subtle") and includes a new front fascia, front splitter, rear fascia, side sills, a three-piece rear wing and 18-inch wheels (20-inchers are optional). Roush has also spent countless hours tuning the suspension system, which consists of new springs, shocks and sway bars, although we can't imagine Ford's own setup being improved upon too much. Roush will have to send us a 427R to test so can find out for ourselves.
Finally, all the little details that come with a limited edition production car are all there – fender badges, rear decklid emblem, aluminum pedals, embroidered floor mats and a serialized engine bay plaque. In addition to the standard features, customers can also choose from numerous upgrades including reupholstered leather seats, short-throw shifter, performance exhaust, and more. very subtle changes to the exterior, but enough to make it the most badass production Mustang on the street like the 427R has always been.

Ford confirms development of 5.0L "Coyote" V8 for future F-150 and Mustang Source: Motor Authority Ford’s iconic Mustang was given an update for the 2010 model year to keep it fresh alongside strong new competitors such as the Dodge Challenger, upcoming Chevrolet Camaro, and even Nissan’s all-new 370Z, but unfortunately the update didn’t entail any serious changes to the car’s powertrain lineup. Despite reports claiming that Ford’s EcoBoost V6 and a new 5.0L V8 were destined for the 2010 update, Ford decided to stick with the previous 4.6L V8 engine for its range-topping GT.
Compared to its top-end rivals, Ford’s 315hp (235kW) GT looks anaemic against the 372hp (277kW) Dodge Challenger R/T and even worse against the 422hp (315kW) of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS. Even the V6 engine in Nissan’s 370Z drums up 332hp (248kW).
The tables are set to turn, however, as a Ford executive has revealed to Drive that Ford’s current 4.6L and 5.4L V8 engines will be replaced by a new 5.0L V8 codenamed ‘Coyote’ that’s currently in development in North America. Ford's Australian product development chief, Russel Christophers, wasn’t willing to reveal any other details but said he had "seen the performance curves" and described them as “pretty good”.
The new Coyote engine is first expected to appear in the F-150 pickup in 2010 and then in the Mustang by 2011. The specs include a four-valve SOHC design, with power up around the 400hp (300kW) region and torque upwards of 400lb-ft (540Nm).
An exact date for release of the engine is not known but it has been suggested that it could appear in the Mustang within the next two years, and in certain Australian models as early as 2010. Meanwhile, the base Mustang is expected to stick with the current 4.0L V6, but a new mid-level model is expected to be launched later this year with Ford’s 355hp (265kW) and 350ft-lb (474Nm) of torque EcoBoost mill.
As for the high-performance Shelby models, previous reports claimed the GT500 will eventually adopt a supercharged version of the new 5.0L V8 in place of the current 5.4L mill.

The father of the Mustang, Lee Iacocca, unveils Silver 45th Anniversary Ford Mustang Source: AutoBlog If anyone deserves to have his own special edition Ford Mustang, it's Lee Iacocca. The former president of the Ford division, Iacocca is known as the father of the Mustang and recruited Carroll Shelby to create special versions of the horse in his own image. Now, 45 years after the original Mustang debuted, Iacocca has built his very own version.
Known as the 2009 1/2 Iacocca 45th Anniversary Edition Ford Mustang, this coach-built pony car features a special body designed by Michael Leone and built by the legendary Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters. The car features a reworked front end including sunken headlights and a prominent fastback look with the slope of the roof reaching all the way to the rear of the car. Inside, Iacocca's Mustang gets Diamond Design leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with "I" logos, and Iacocca-badged aluminum door sill plates. Finishing off the look of the car are 20-inch Iacocca Design wheels wrapped with Goodyear Eagle tires.
Performance enhancements come courtesy of the Ford Racing parts bin, all of which retain the factory warranty and include a cold-air intake system and the Ford Racing Handling Pack with new shocks and springs. Customers can also opt for a supercharger system that boosts the 4.6-liter V8 to 400 horsepower as well as a 14-inch front brake system.
Production of the Iacocca 45th Anniversary Edition Ford Mustang will be limited to a scant 45 units, available exclusively at Galpin Ford in Southern California. Follow the jump for the official press release and a full list of specifications.

Shelby unveils Super Snake package for 2010 GT500 with an upgrade for the Shelby GT and Mustang GT Source: AutoBlog Coinciding with the 35th Annual Ford and Team Shelby Nationals in Tulsa, OK, Shelby Automobiles has released a barrage of new models including a 2010 version of the GT500 Super Snake (above). Most of the models are based on the previous generation Mustang, either the Mustang GT, Shelby GT or GT500 that current owners can bring to Shelby to be modified.
First up is the Shelby GT/SC, basically a Shelby GT with a supercharger, upgraded brakes and triple gauges on the dash. Next is the Shelby GT/SR (right), which is essentially a GT/SC model fitted with additional equipment for racing like BFGoodrich R compound tires, a one-piece aluminum driveshaft, front brake duct kit and an adjustable suspension.
If you want to Shelbify your regular Mustang GT, you can opt for the SuperCharged package that includes a supercharger, upgrades brakes, suspension and exhaust, 18-inch tires and more. You can also spec out your Mustang to SR spec, which adds similar upgrades to the GT/SR model.
Have a GT500 that needs more Shelby stuff on it? You can now go with the GT500SE (Special Edition) package that includes a carbon fiber front splitter, rocker panels and hood grille inserts, Ford Racing suspension, Borla exhaust, 20-inch wheels and tires, and more. And what if your GT500 is a 2010 model? Well, Shelby is now offering their Super Snake package for the latest GT500 that, among other things, offers a 725-horsepower supercharger upgrade. GT500 Super Snake Shelby GT/SR Shelby GT/SC GT500SE Ford Mustang GT with Shelby SC/SR upgrades

Steeda gives a sneak peak to new Q-Series Mustang and previews Sport Edition Mustang Source: Steeda At Steeda Autosports we never rush to bring anything to market for the sake of being “first” – unlike others, we save all of the “firsts” for the race track and for the dragstrip!
If there is one thing we have learned over time is that it pays to do your homework by doing extensive design and engineering analysis, exhaustive studies, and intricate computer simulations so that the end result is simply the very best it possibly can be. Only then can we guarantee to our customers that when they order a Steeda part or purchase one of our serialized performance vehicles, that they will always get the very best product available. We never compromise or take shortcuts – the founder of Steeda Autosports, Dario Orlando, wouldn’t have it any other way!
A prime example of this is our version of the 2010 Mustang. The Skunkworks Team at Steeda Autosports has been working on the next iteration of the famous Steeda Q-Series diligently since 2008, and rest assured, that the 2010 Steeda Q is guaranteed to be the best Steeda performance vehicle ever to hit the asphalt. As part of this continuing evolution of Mustang performance, it was imperative that we first listened to what our customers had to say about what THEY want in a performance vehicle, how THEY wanted the vehicle to perform, and how THEY want their vehicle to look. Only after listening did we initiate our formal developmental process that will lay the groundwork for something really great.
You can rest assured that your Steeda serialized vehicle and it’s performance parts are being created by us “with no compromises” under our very strict Quality Management System (QMS) that is fully registered and certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). This strict and very prestigious ISO 9001-2000 Certification is your guarantee that only the highest quality levels are integrated into every vehicle we serialize.
The end result: We are incorporating numerous significant engineering enhancements that will further improve the vehicle’s ability to perform under the most demanding and harshest road and track driving conditions. Improvements will be made that will allow the vehicle’s platform to be taken to a much higher level of performance functionality, we are dramatically improving the vehicle’s co-efficient of drag, and we have adopted an exterior design appearance that is guaranteed to take your breath away and yet remain faithful to our trademarked DNA.
The entire Team at Steeda Autosports takes great pride in designing, engineering, and manufacturing our products with the single goal of providing you with the highest quality, race proven and track tested vehicle available anywhere. When you buy any product from us, we encourage you to compare it, as we do, to competitive products for design, engineering, fit, finish, and performance. We believe that by doing this, you will further appreciate the Steeda difference that separates us from all others. Made in the United States of America by performance enthusiasts for performance enthusiasts – there is simply nothing better you can buy!
Look for additional details about the 2010 Steeda Q in the near future... Rest assured that Steeda Autosports is hard at work developing and refining the 2010 Mustang to be the best Steeda Q-Series Mustang ever. Attendees at the recent 2009 Camp Steeda, held at the Sebring International Raceway in Florida, saw it for themselves that weekend as we had two 2010 Mustangs in “regular street clothing” testing a variety of new components that will be standard on our 2010 Steeda Q-Series. Covertly disguised to resemble regular 2010 Mustangs, these developmental mules were there on a mission to test under severe track conditions exactly how our parts will perform once we formally release the 2010 Q-Series. It is all part of our ISO 9001-2000 developmental process that uses advanced computer simulation and on-track testing to provide you the acceleration, braking, confidence, and all around performance you have come to expect from us.
Unlike most other tuners in the aftermarket that just re-badge parts they buy from others and then sell them as their “own”, at Steeda Autosports we take everything very seriously. Not only do we design, engineer, and manufacturer our own parts, but we test them in the most brutal way we can find – on the race track. And the development of the 2010 Steeda Q Mustang is no different, as we have done for over 20 years, we are continuing our engineering refinement to make the 2010 Steeda Q the best ever to pound the pavement, blast down the quarter mile, or win at the racetrack. video - http://www.steedatv.com/play.php?vid=114
