I vote. And I still complain like a whiner. I realize that was the comment above. If you vote, you can whine. I used to be a conservative republican, no more, the Bush family ruined that for me Georgie Sr and Jr together.

I vote independent, or if a particular candidate has a good message, regardless of party, I vote for them. What diffrence does that make? Our vote does not truly elect th president anyway, its a glorified straw poll. THATS what bothers me. We have set up a democracy in Iraq where their votes DIRECTLY elect their leaders ... WTF happened here? Do we need someone to invade us to set up a REAL democracy?

Where are the damn british when you need them?

Jeez this year is shaping up to be a real humdinger. Absolutely NO republicans do it for me, and I am disillushioned about the corruption anyway. Not that Demos are any better. Anyone can be corrupt, obviously, look at gov Rob here in our state. Hes no better than Ryan, just hasnt been caught yet.

But why should you all be interested in politics? My take is that with the internet, we are seeing a morphisis of the process. I think this an exciting time to be involved. Step up! Say something, do something!

The reason the Iraq Democracy isn't working (and never will) is because it IS a true Democracy. A true Democracy is nothing more than mob rule described in a nice way.

A Representative Republic is the ONLY system that allows the minority to have a voice. (That is why it has worked so well here) Imagine how long the civil rights movement would have lasted if we lived in a Democracy where the majority (whites at the time) were against it.

Not sure I agree with that. Many of us amatuer polysci's believe that it will fail because of the historical tribal divisions and of course the well documented shia and suni divisions. I dont have enough time/energy to type out some of the conversations I have had with others, but, suffuce to say, there are multiple compounded reasons why Iraq WILL fail.

The tribal differences and the majority Shi'a having power over the minority Sunni is why the Democracy wouldn't work. It took an English iron fist to stop tribal and religious infighting in Scotland and Ireland. The down side to that approach was years of animosity, resentment and bloodshed. (Don't think the Scots all love England)

There is no good solution Partition would not work well, neither would giving control of Sunni areas to the majority Sunni Iran.

Really the only way to solve the issue completely would be to pick a side and eliminate the other, and we know that is unacceptable.

My point exactly...........

Nothing good, so whats next? I DO NOT believe its up to the Americans to decide that ... sorry.

Hmmmm ... ethnic cleansing ... I remember Kosovo. Your right, that is not acceptable either.

Hub

You may feel as though your vote does not count, but what you don't realize is that by NOT voting you are basically not being heard-if you feel as though you want your voice & opinion to be out there, you need to pressure those that have a voice a little.

I quite honestly think that most people in politics have their own agenda and it would be difficult to trust any of them but ones that have a past that either really shines or they have been completely honest and up front about. I think that it's easy for all of them to say what they would do, but then again they aren't the president yet.
