In Vernon Hills there's a restaurant called, Tsukasa, probably my favorite Japanese restaurant in the area. It's one of those restaurants where they come out and cook in front of you, they also do some pretty cool tricks. The food is really good, especially if you like steak, but they've got other good food too:

Tsukasa of Tokyo
561 N Milwaukee Avenue
Vernon Hills, IL 60061-1593
Phone: (847) 816-8770
http://www.tsukasaoftokyo.com/

If you're looking for something a little closer to the city, there's Ron of Japan in Northbrook. I haven't been there in a while but it's supposed to be the same idea where they cook in front of you. I don't think they do any tricks though and my mom apparently doesn't like the food, haha. Grin

Ron of Japan
633 Skokie Blvd Ste Ll111
Northbrook, IL 60062-2874
Phone: (847) 564-5900

Ron of Japan FTMFW! It's awesome, I'd totally go there at least once to give it a shot, and I don't think its too terribly far from where you are now.

Place on Waukegan road, in the middle of Golf and Dempster, small place on the east side of the street - its called ZinMi and its one of the place like Benihana that they cook right in front of you, but cheaper and just as good - great food, great atmosphere too Smiley

Ron of Japan is pretty good but pricey. Benihanas is the same story. I went to Kamihachis or something like that the other day and didn't like it. Also right by the place where u will be moving too is Red Lantern. Its both Chiniese and Japanese. (in highwood on Waukegan/Sheridan) Havent been there myself but a friend of mine worked there and said it was good.

Thanks to all for the suggestions.
We went to Tsukasa in Vernon Hills, it was delish! The kids had never been to a hibachi place so they had alot of fun. Both the girls (7 and 5) used chopsticks for the first time ever and got it right on! I was so proud. There was a gazillion birthdays there, like every 5 minutes! thumbsup
