I need help getting my internet speed back up to par. I have Comcast broadband with the Lynxis speed boost router and my wireless card is the 1x in the same brand. I have everything setup the way the drivers installed them. I don't know how to set this stuff up, I do know however that my speed is horrific. What should I be looking at to try and solve my dilemma? Is interference an issue, meaning not a direct line of site for the antenna and modem? The house isn't very big also. Anyone have tips, ideas, thoughts, anything....doesn't matter, give me some ideas. I can't take it any more. Here's a pic to show my speed, which took me forever to get the speed and to load the pic just to explain it.

ps: the other computers are consecutively pulling 16-17mb through the same wireless connection.

I know this sounds stupid but r u sure you are connected to your network and not someone else's?  I have found sometimes that people don't realize they are connected to someone else's network.

No, it's not, I'm on our connection. I've checked that a few times to verify.

Have you looked at the log files on the lynksys to see what kind of activity is going on?
Your network is secure correct?

are you on a mixed wireless network? is it 802.11b/g? mixed networks can run slower. is the wireless card capable of g? if all the computers are g wireless capable switch to a g only network.

wow ok lol. ummm

1. My wireless card is model no. wmp-54g from linksys

2. No the network in not secure. We live in the woods. I need to set it up, but again, lack of knowledge here. We have 3 computer on the network, 2 are wireless and one is hardlined in. The router is a G as well, same with the other wireless computer

3. How do I check log files?

4. Encryption??? I assume that goes hand and foot with a secure network, which I don't have.

5. Can I set the secure portion up on any of the 3 computers or does it have to be the main line in?Huh??

omg i had this thing almost completely done but w/e here it goes again. (omg ie dont crap out on me again)

1) go to start then click run

2) type in cmd to the line in the run box

3) type ipconfig in the command prompt (black box) that appears.

4) there will be a line that now says Default Gateway: write down this number!

5) Type the number into Internet Explorer or Firefox as you would a normal url (without the http:// and without the www.)

6) Since you said that you are not expierienced when you log in if the password hasnt been changed then the login is either admin:admin admin:password or just admin in the password with no log in name.

7) I dont know which model number you have so you need to navigate to encryption and have it generate you an encryption code that will then need to be written down and then entered into all wireless computers, thus making them secure.

Ok, I went through and setup my network and now everything is secure to a point. I have it on WEP-128. Also figured out the whole g network thing, switched it from B to G and now I and hitting almost 20meg. Turns out my girls dad has a business connection out here in the woods. I'm sure I'm going to miss this speed once we find the right house lol.
